Review of In Concerto by Julian Bream, Alto Musical Concepts 2012

Italian Translation

What would we do without Julian Bream? Bream is a giant of classical guitar, an absolute genius who was able to lead to levels of excellence, pure sound, compositions and transcriptions of our favorite instrument. His huge discography, divided between Columbia and RCA, was in the early 90's assembled in a prestigious and monumental collection of over thirty CDs  unfortunately at the moment no longer available. And many of these titles are still difficult to find due to the fact that Sony, who owns the rights of the two record companies ,no longer provided for the reprinting. So this reissue is welcome, alto is a label of Musical Concepts, which has published this new edition of some recordings of 1960. These are the following: Concerto in A for Guitar and Strings by Mauro Giuliani, Guitar Concerto Op 67 by Malcolm Arnold, Sonatina Op 51 by Lennox Berkeley, Pavane pour une infante défunte by Ravel, Segovia Op 29 by Roussel, Sonata in C sharp minor and Sonata in A by Cimarosa. This music already on the market from several years but not readily available. We are in 1960, Bream is in great shape and at his best, listen to him playing is always a great joy and great emotion. Good remastering's job of the old recordings.
